JJS (JenniferJue-Steuck) is an author, screenwriter, children's novelist, researcher, and columnist. She contributes to Conde Nast Publications, St. Martin's Press (NYC), Oxford University Press, the MIT Press, and others. Born in Taipei to a Mandarin-speaking birthmother from JIANGSU Province, China, Jennifer was adopted by an American family in 1979 and grew up in Laguna Beach (Orange County), California, USA. Precious Jade (Bao Yu in Mandarin) is her given Chinese name. Her first language was Mandarin (Chinese), followed by English (post-adoption), Cantonese (Chinese), French, and Spanish. In 2006 she founded Chinese Adoptee Links (CAL) International - the first volunteer grassroots organization created by and for the 150,000+ Chinese adoptees in 26 countries worldwide - followed by Global Generations (est. 2008). Her younger brother, Chris, was adopted from South Korea.
A member of the worldwide Society of Children's Writers & Illustrators and The Authors Guild, Jennifer is a graduate of New York University's Tisch School of the Arts and Harvard University. As an adopted person born in Asia and "planted" in America, Jennifer's mantra and wish for you, is to "BLOOM YOUR BEST," no matter what!
